What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of The Rock Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

The absolute inspiration of the Holy Scriptures

We believe in the absolute inspiration of the Holy Scriptures, given by the Holy Spirit without error as He moved upon holy men of old. Furthermore, we believe that all church doctrine and/or practices must follow these same scriptures, that were taught by the early Christian Church. (II Timothy 3:16)

The Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit

We believe there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. (1 John 5:7)

Jesus Christ is the Son of God

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, was born of a virgin, and lived a sinless life. He performed miracles, healed the sick, and cast out demon spirits. He willingly lay down His life at Calvary, was resurrected bodily for our justification, and is now seated at the right hand of God having accomplished the finished work that is necessary for salvation.

Man was made in the image of God

We believe that man was made in the image of God and is the crown of His creation. However, mankind is now by reason of “the fall”, spiritually alienated from his Creator. (Genesis 1:26; Genesis 3:23-24)

Accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior

We believe that to be saved a person must repent of their sin, confess Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We believe a person is justified by grace through faith in our Lord’s sacrifice at Calvary. (Romans 3:23-24; Romans 10:9-10; Ephesians 2:8).

Waters of baptism by immersion

We believe that all believers should be buried with our Lord Jesus Christ in the waters of baptism by immersion. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:4)

The Holy Spirit teaches, comforts, convicts, and empowers

We believe the Holy Spirit teaches, comforts, convicts, and empowers the believer to be a witness of Jesus Christ. We believe the Holy Spirit is continuing the work He started at Pentecost empowering believers to live a Godly life and continue in all of the works of Jesus. (John 14:16-18; John 16:8; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12:7-11)

We believe in the imminent soon return of Jesus Christ

We believe in the imminent soon return of Jesus Christ, and that all born again believers will be raptured to a heavenly dwelling place where they will receive an incorruptible body, and that those who do not believe on Jesus Christ will be eternally separated from God in a place of torment. (Luke 21:28; Revelation 22:12)

The Body of Christ is composed of all born-again believers in Christ

We believe the Body of Christ is composed of all born-again believers in Christ, regardless of denominational association or affiliation. (1 Corinthians 12:13-26)

All born-again believers have been commissioned to share their faith

We believe all born-again believers have been commissioned to share their faith and the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ to all the world. (Matthew 28:19)

God still uses Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers

We believe that God still uses Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers to minister to the body of Christ until the Lord’s return. Furthermore, these ministries are gifts to the church for the purpose of equipping the saints for the work of the ministry, that the body of Christ may be edified. (Ephesians 4:11-16).

We believe in the literal second coming of our Lord

We believe in the literal second coming of our Lord, the literal rule of Christ upon the earth, and the resurrection of all born again believers to eternal life. (Acts 1:9-11; Revelation 22:7; 1 Corinthians 15).
